Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 5402 A
In 1972 Audemars Piguet decided to launch the project “Royal Oak”. The name referred to the British history: in fact the legend tells that Charles II, defeated by his enemies, found refuge under an old oak, symbol of longevity and strenght. Therefore Georges Golay, head of the Audemars Piguet, instructed the designer Gerald Genta to realize this project, Genta, taking inspiration from the deep sea helmet, gave Birth to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
